What kinds of things are normally covered by home insurance?

Tenant insurance normally includes Personal Property, Earthquake insurance, Personal Liability, Tenant Liability and Repair Expenses. Personal Property covers your personal belongings in your apartment if there is any accident. For example, fire, water leaks, theft etc. You can include earthquake insurance for your Personal Property coverage. You cannot have earthquake insurance by itself. Personal Liability covers compensation for damages caused to your neighbor and neighbor’s property. For example, if you had a water leak which damaged the computer of your neighbor living downstairs, or if you accidentally dropped a flower pot and injured your neighbor etc. Tenant Liability covers fees to repair damages caused to your rental property due to an accident. For example, if you caused a fire and had to compensate the landlord for the damage. Repair Expenses cover anything that is broken by an accident. For example, a window being broken by a ball etc.
