How is public transportation in Hyogo/Osaka?

As in many Japanese cities, public transportation is an excellent way to get around as it is fast, convenient, and with very regular service.  There are various options available in the Hyogo/Osaka area including trains, subways, buses, and port liners.  There is easy access within the city of Kobe and vicinity by train; however, you might need to take a bus to get to some areas in the suburbs. Liners can be taken when you travel to Port Island and Rokko Island. We recommend that you purchase achargeable card called ICOCA which you are able to use to take all of these forms of transportation including the JR, private railways, subways and buses.  The fare will automatically be deducted from the card at the end of your trip so you do not have to worry how much to pay for a ticket.
